Abstract

The paper presents the results of a multicenter postmarketing clinical laboratory study of Eplan ointment and eplan solution for the topical treatment of skin and soft tissue infections in outpatient, inpatient, and field settings. The results of the study in 793 patients with skin and soft tissue infections of different locations and genesis demonstrate the high clinical efficacy of the medicaments along with their easy-to-use formulation and economic availability.

Abstract
Analyzed the results of treatment of 584 patients operated on for soft tissue tumors of the head and neck with the elimination of the defect formed by directly comparing the edges of wounds by primary suture. Taking into account the level of the wound by M.I. Kuzin et al. (1977), the dynamics of clinical and laboratory results, morphological, biological research, local thermometry and vulnotenziometry. Statistical significance was estimated using the Student's t-test, Mann–Whitney U-test, and criteria χ2 and Fisher with certainty changes in p < 0.05. Found that in the majority of patients kept the wound heals biologically programmed tissue reactions. At the same time, high bacterial contamination of integumentary tissues in the area of operations, especially against the background of the malignant tumor was a risk factor for the development of wound complications in 18 % of patients. The observed the oncological impact was characterized by the five-year survival at 90.6 ± 1.9 %. The 4.5 ± 1.9 % of patients had a direct link to death from malignant tumor.

Abstract
Aim of investigation: improvement the results of treatment in patients with diffuse postoperative peritonitis complicated with severe abdominal sepsis. Materials and methods. The present investigation is performed in 132 patients. According to the way of treatment the patients were divided into 2 groups: the first (control) group included 56 patients with diffuse postoperative peritonitis, severe abdominal sepsis who got complex treatment, sanations and abdominal cavity drainage according to “clinical indications”. The second (main) group included 76 patients with diffuse postoperative peritonitis, severe abdominal sepsis who got complex treatment and a surgical treatment algorithm which we have worked out. The patients were in severe condition with marked multiple organ failure, with equal risk of lethality in both groups. Surgical methods included laparotomy, relaparotomy, sanations, abdominal cavity drainage, mini-laparotomy. Results: application of the elaborated algorithm for surgical treatment of patients with diffuse postoperative peritonitis and severe abdominal sepsis made it possible to improve the results of treatment. Intensive ward stay was 1.4 times less accordingly, 10.0 ± 1.4 days and 14.0 ± 1.9 days (p < 0.1). Hospital stay was 3.3 days less accordingly, 29.0 ± 0.9 days and 32.3 ± 1.2 days (p < 0.05). Lethality was 2.5 times less as compared with abdominal cavity sanations according to “clinical indications”, accordingly 21.1 and 51.8 % (p < 0.01).

Abstract

Skin and soft tissue infections are the most common cause in the patterns of ambulatory surgery visits. The paper discusses the present-day requirements for topical antibacterial dosage forms with an accent on the current susceptibility of pathogens to the antibiotics entering into their composition.

Abstract

We are to present a rare occurrence of large limb-threatening ulcer of the leg and foot in patient with thrombocytosis. Essential thrombocythemia was diagnosed based on peripheral blood platelet count and gen test findings. The improving of platelet count was obtained by oral hydroxyurea. Complex surgical treatment, including free-skin grafting, was performed with the excellent result. Two-year follow-up was retraced without any sign of ulcer recurrence.

Abstract

The paper describes the experience of successful treatment in a patient with chronic pyoderma gangrenosum et vegetans, a rather rare disease at surgical hospital and a department of purulent surgery. The authors have encountered a description of treatment in a 72-year-old patient in the Russian and foreign literature. This clinical observation shows how a 74-year-old patient with chronic pyoderma gangrenosum et vegetans is treated.
